REE worked with Michigan Energy Options (MEO) as the first non-utility nonprofit to design, finance, construct, own and operate a community solar park in the State of Michigan—and one of the few nonprofits to do this nationally, as well. Brian Maillet marshalled the tax equity investment and led the park’s construction on a capped landfill, where pollinators and native grasses have been planted and today flourish. Industry members of Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council voted the community solar park their “2019 Project of the Year.” With this 345-kW project,  MEO is providing “virtually” clean, local, renewable energy to 150 participants.
